HOW CONSULTANTS HELP NATURAL BURIAL PROJECTS MOVE FORWARD

Operating any cemetery is a big commitment and cannot be taken lightly. I have always viewed my work as a calling of sorts. We become responsible to the families and community that entrust us with the care of their beloved, and it is our primary duty to serve them. We have also made pledges to protect and restore our environment… and at the end of the day we still have finances to balance. There is a lot to consider!

A customized approach can save time, capital, and all other valuable resources. There are many different cemetery products and services out there. There are specific goods that may best serve your needs, and it is critical that they are selected and implemented as early in your project’s development as possible.

Many burial grounds also cooperate with local organizations to build supportive relationships. There may be public or non-profit resources you can partner with to help your efforts to thrive. It is equally important that these introductions are made, and these beneficial relationships are cultivated early on.

MEETING THE NATURAL BURIAL CHALLENGE

There must be a cohesive plan that considers the specific needs of your business or organization while simultaneously addressing multiple aspects of design and operations. The land must be selected and accurately mapped and plotted. Many purchases are made as you invest in equipment, tools, and other products in the field.  Employees in this relatively new field rarely come trained. An administrative process must be laid out with accounting, legal forms and State documentation. Record keeping and accuracy are paramount. There are promotional opportunities and public relations to consider and we haven’t even gotten to helping families or doing burials.

  • Does your organization have a comprehensive plan that outlines a clear path to achieving your goals?
  • Does your Operations Manual provide applicable, relevant, and well-founded direction to your staff?
  • Are you utilizing your resources efficiently, and are the goods and services you purchase really the best fit?fit
